A horrific scene greeted the forest officials and veterinarians in Madhya Pradesh, where hundreds of cows were found dead in a forest area. The authorities are investigating the cause of the mysterious tragedy, which has left the locals and animal lovers in a state of grief and disbelief.

According to sources, the cows belonged to a cow shelter run by a local NGO in the district of Betul. The shelter had around 1,000 cows, most of them rescued from slaughterhouses or abandoned by their owners. The shelter staff had taken some of the cows to graze in the nearby forest on Monday, but when they returned in the evening, they found hundreds of them lying dead on the ground.

The forest officials and veterinarians rushed to the spot and collected samples from the carcasses for testing. They suspect that the cows might have consumed some poisonous plants or substances in the forest, but the exact reason will be known only after the post-mortem reports are available.

The cow shelter authorities have expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident and demanded a thorough probe into the matter. They said that they had been taking care of the cows with utmost dedication and love, and had never faced such a situation before. They also appealed to the public to help them in this difficult time and donate funds for the treatment and burial of the dead cows.

The incident has also sparked outrage among the animal rights activists and social media users, who have condemned the negligence and cruelty that led to the death of so many innocent animals. They have demanded strict action against those responsible and urged the government to ensure better protection and welfare of the cows in the state.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar, an online veterinary consultant with VetLive, said that such mass deaths of cows are rare and alarming. He said that cows are susceptible to various diseases and infections, especially when they are exposed to unfamiliar environments or stress factors. He advised that cow shelters should follow proper hygiene and vaccination protocols, and monitor their animals regularly for any signs of illness or distress.
